George Graham learned clockmaking from Henry Aske in 1688. Graham lived from 1673-1751. Shelton was apprenticed to Graham. Shelton is famous for his regulators. Thomas Mudge was apprenticed to Shelton. Mudge lived from 1715-1794. Mudge invented the lever escapement in 1757. Mudge entered into partnership with William Dutton in 1755.
